Notes on Soundtrack: ¡ÁTAME! (1989) (Part 2)

Ennio Morricone (in 2016) about director Pedro Almodóvar:
"He attended every session in Rome. The problem was that he would always tell me: 'All right'. No hint of enthusiasm, warmth or engagement. Everything was just 'All right'. I even started suspecting that he was depressed, since he did not seem to enjoy anything in particular.
We met again some years later in Berlin, where we were both to accept an award. I asked him: 'Tell me the truth, did you like my music for TIE ME UP! TIE ME DOWN! or not'. He didn't let me finish the question before exclaiming with great enthusiasm: 'I loved it so much'. And then he burst into laughter. Who knows, perhaps he didn't even remember the music. To this day, I am still in doubt as to whether he liked it or not. His overemphatic 'so much' didn't convince me."

Why the spanish director invited italian composer?...

I read the book - interview of Almodovar, dated by 2007 year.

The author & interviewer someone french...
I don't remember the name...

And that interviewer has asked Almodovar: "Why you have invited Morricone to write music, in fact at it music more classical and conditional, not suitable for your films, not conditional films..."?

Almodovar has told that to that the his favorite composer Miles Davis has been borrowed, he also has added, that never was admirer of Morricone, but he always liked Morricone's music for thw westerns.

So, Almodovar has heard to all material Morricone wrote and has told, that Morricone has copied or has altered the main theme from "Frantic" which was almost similar...

In general, Almodovar was not so satisfied with music and has left and used in film only half of material written by Morricone...

He said also, he didn't judge the composers because they have so little time for wrote the music...

For more info, you can find this book ...
I just read in library because this book was translated to russian & edited in 2007 year & i've tried to wrote all the lines of the book concerning Morricone.

And he also was not satisfied the Ruyichi Sakamoto work, music for on of his movies....

I don't know, i'm personally like very much this music of Morricone, main theme very beautiful, and the maestro received the Prize...

Perhaps Almodovar thought differently...
