FILM CREDITS AND MUSIC IN THE THING
* Main titles music : a variation from Humanity (part II) on synthetizer, without the scansions (1'16)
These both two tracks, not present in the Varèse LP/CD of The thing by Morricone, was doubtful to belong to him because of the electronical style and because it was known that Carpenter (and Alan Howarth) added some music, mainly based upon the themes by Morricone. After the CD "The thing" in 2011 reprising the music by Carpenter and Howarth, this element is confirmed.
[Note : The bootleg adds nothing and cheats the audience both in the running times and the repeated tracks.] |

Re: Notes on Soundtrack: THE THING (1982)
Some time ago I had a conversation (via facebook) with pianist/composer/arranger Amedeo Tommasi, and he told me that he did all the synth work on Morricone's The Thing. He recorded many synth tracks at forum studios in Rome and then Morricone did the same tracks with an orchestra in Los Angeles. He worked for Morricone as a session pianist/keyboarder/synth-player-programmer from about 1982 to 1998; Legend of the 1900 was the last movie they worked on together. As far as Amedeo could remember he recorded as many as 22 synth tracks for The Thing! Now, as there are only three synth tracks on the CD, it'd mean that many of the all-synth pieces are unreleased. On the other hand, I guess most of those tracks weren't supposed to be released in the first place as they probably were meant as synth-mock-ups for the orchestral recording. |
