The lyrics to "Pastures of Plenty" were written by Woody Guthrie in 1941. link

"Pastures of Plenty" has since been recorded in many different arrangements. Morricone's orchestration, with vocals by Peter Tevis, originates from 1962.
Morricone was apparently not aware that the 12-second musical bridge (from 1:36 to 1:48), not present in the original "Pretty Polly" melody, had been added by Peter Tevis.

In 1964, the same orchestration was used for the instrumental "Titoli" piece belonging to the soundtrack of PER UN PUGNO DI DOLLARI. Peter Tevis' original vocals were simply replaced by Alessandro Alessandroni's whistling.
The first edition of the vinyl single still features the 1962 Franco Potenza choir singing "With the Wind", a remnant of Woody Guthrie's "Pastures of Plenty" lyrics.

On the second edition, the Franco Potenza (1962) choir singing "With the wind", was replaced by the Alessandro Alessandroni choir (1964) singing "We can fight", thus closing the remaining ties to the Woody Guthrie lyrics.
The 1962 Potenza choir can still be heard in the musical bridge (1:36 to 1:48).

After the PER UN PUGNO DI DOLLARI soundtrack turned out to be a worldwide success, Peter Tevis received a considerable amount of money for his 12-second bridge in the "Titoli" piece.

The track 'Titoli' from 'Ennio Morricone Chronicles'

The track "Titoli" from the 10th CD of the 'Ennio Morricone Chronicles' shouldn't be credited to all the records as listed in the Filmo-Discographie. The 'Chronicles-Version' is based on the orchestration of the arrangement for Peter Tevis' "Pastures of Plenty" and it is different to the version we all know so well.

Thanks for the rectification. The track listing of the Chronicles has now been modified to include the Titoli with the melody from Pastures of Plenty played by the guitar in the middle of the track.
